Drugs awareness

John spent 1 hour each with Years 5 & 6. The session was relaxed but the intention was to inform children about the serious consequences of taking non-prescription drugs.

The children were given information about how chemicals in drugs can affect the body and mind, for example, stimulant, depressant and hallucinogenic. The children learnt how someone can be addicted to drugs and turn to crime to pay for them, which could lead to a criminal record. Consequences of having a criminal record were related to real life – being unable to travel or not getting a job.

We hope the information will help our children to make the right choices in the future
