Starting school is an exciting time as your child moves into a new stage of their development. It can also be an anxious time for parents but please be assured that it is of paramount importance to us that your child feels happy, safe and secure at school so they are ready to learn. We aim to work in close partnership with parents so together we can ensure the best possible outcomes for your child.
Here is a film that shows a typical day in Reception, including some of the learning experiences that children experience on a day to day basis. The film also includes some photographs taken over the year, showing the wide variety of opportunities and activities the children take part in. We hope you find it useful.
Below is our Welcome booklet for new Reception parents. It provides an overview of what you can do help your child prepare for starting school. There is information about the outcomes and expectations by the end of Reception in all the areas of learning: personal, social and emotional development, communication and language, physical development, literacy, mathematics, understanding the world and expressive arts and design.
It also contains information about the school such as start and finish times, a typical timetable for a day, school dinners, how to report absences, school uniform, the opportunities for parents to be involved in their child's education and much more. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school on 0113 2558719.
Parents Evening Presentation
Below is a copy of the presentation given at the new Reception Parents Evening (still to be updated for 2017). We hope that any parents who are unable to attend will find this information a useful addition to the welcome booklet. If you have any queries after reading these two documents then please feel free to contact us here at the school and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
