In year 6 we looked at the idea of sculpture and how this is art work but in 3D. After looking at some famous sculptures from around the world as well as some of the more local sculptures, for example, at Yorkshire Wildlife Park the children created their own paper sculptures that were inspired by the rainforest. The children created abstract designs and we discussed what this term means in relation to art. Take a look at the pictures below.
We had a visitor who came into school to deliver some drum sessions. The children thoroughly enjoyed being shown the different types of percussion instruments, particularly the drums and had the opportunity to play each one. They developed rhythm and understood the importance of listening to other instruments whilst playing in a group.
