What an amazing trip Year 2 had today at Cartwright Hall Art Gallery! The children absolutely loved it. Each class got to take part in a fantastic David Hockney workshop where they learnt about how he created many of his art pieces and sat in an art studio that was a replica of his own. They loved looking at real David Hockney prints, especially the famous ‘Le Plongeur’. They couldn’t believe how big it was and that he created it out of paper pulp! The children spent the rest of their time in the gallery enjoying all the artwork, completing an art quiz and sketching a few of their favourite pieces. And, of course, we had lots of fun in the playpark! We are now experts on David Hockney and can’t wait to create some art pieces inspired by him.
