Design and Technology - Making Shelters
Year 6's first Design and Technology project of the year was linked to their topic learning about WW2. The children were challenged to think about what they had learnt about the use of Anderson and Morrison Shelters in this country during The Blitz and how these were designed to keep people safe. They then set about looking at different structures, how they were made and what shapes proved to be strong in architecture. After designing their own WW2 shelter they then built their own prototype shelters out of a variety of materials. The children thoroughly enjoyed the project and came up with some fantastic designs.
