Year 5 have been making excellent progress in preparing for their restaurant topic. They have now chosen who they will be working with and have conducted some market research to find out which meals are the most popular choices at a restaurant. To follow on from this children have been looking at a variety of cook books, magazines and websites to help them choose a well balanced meal to cook on their restaurant evenings. Children are now in the process of learning how to make basic meals and sides to build on their cooking knowledge and techniques. This week children have made healthy coleslaw. They learnt a variety of safe grips to use when handling a knife. These included; the claw grip and the bridge grip. As well as this children learnt how to prepare an onion and learnt that in the future they may need to wear goggles to prevent their eyes from running!
