This week the children have been working really hard on solving multiplication problems. They started the week by making equal groups using real objects. They then progressed to drawing equal groups and counting in 2s 5s and 10s to calculate the total. On Friday we will be introducing some word problems.
If you want to practise some multiplication with your children at home, this is the language we have been using:
4 x 2 = four times two makes.... OR four groups of two makes....
The children work out how many groups they need to draw (draw 4 big circles), then think about how many in each group (draw 2 dots in each circle).
If you want any more information/tips/advice about how to work on this with your child feel free to come and talk to us any time.
