Reporting Absences and Late Arrivals

Reporting Absences

If your child is unable to attend school for any reason, please inform us by telephoning the school by 9.30am.  Unexplained absences will lead to parents being contacted by school as we need to ensure that all absent children are safe.

If you know in advance that your child will be unable to attend school, you can inform us by sending a letter as this will then be logged in the register.

Late arrivals

If your child arrives late, after registration has taken place which is from 8.45am until 8.50am, then the school office must be informed upon their arrival. The school office will mark the child in the register.

The registers will be closed at 9am (1.30pm in the afternoon).

Children who are late must report to the school office and have their names entered into a Late Book by the Admin team.  In accordance with the Regulations, if your child arrives after the register is closed, they will receive a mark that shows them to be on site, but this will not count as a present mark and it will mean they have an unauthorised absence. This may mean that you could face the possibility of a Penalty Notice if the problem persists. If your child has a persistent late record you will be asked to meet with the Headteacher and/or Attendance Officer to resolve the problem, but you can approach us at any time if you are having problems getting your child to school on time.

It is important that any child who is late, informs the office of their arrival as it ensures the registers are accurate. The registers are used in the case of evacuation to check that everyone is safely accounted for.
