Our school is part of The Leeds Well School Partnership, which is part of the Leeds Rhinos Foundation. They work with schools across Leeds to enhance health, wellbeing, and opportunities for physical activity, supporting children and young people to lead healthier, more active lives. The Leeds Well School Partnership provides our children with a wide variety of opportunities to take part in sporting participation events as well as sports competitions.
In addition, we also run intra school tournaments, which ensures that every child has the chance to participate in sporting competitions in a safe and friendly environment.

On Tuesday, a group of children from Year 3 and 4 took part in a friendly football event with Westroyd. The children played in 3, 10 minute matches and were full of excitement before we started. The rain luckily stopped before the match the children were able to play - although they did get a bit muddy! The final score 4-0 to Springbank. All the children played really well as part of a team, well done Year 3 and 4!

Year 5 and 6 dodgeball 08.10.2026
On Thursday, a group of Year 5 and 6 children went down to Crawshaw for a dodgeball event. The event took place in the school hall, so we didn't have to brave the cold weather outside! The children played a few games against other schools in the Pudsey Cluster. They all did really well, showing great sportsmanship and determination. We are still awaiting results, but regardless the children should be all very proud of themselves!
KS2 Cross Country 05.10.2026
On Monday, almost 90 children from Springbank entered the qualifying rounds of the Leeds Schools Cross-Country competition at Stanningley Rugby Club. We were blessed with almost perfect cross-country conditions - cool and sunny with a little breeze and this certainly helped keep spirits high! Year 3 and 4 started us off with excellent individual and team performances. For these year groups, it was many of the children's first ever experience of competitive cross-country. After Year 3 and 4 had set the bar so high, Years 5 and 6 had big footsteps to follow in and they did so admirably with a huge amount of top ten finishes! The children represented school brilliantly, showed excellent perseverance, determination and sportsmanship throughout the afternoon. It really was a brilliant event to be a part of and we now await the results to see if any children or teams have qualified for the Leeds City Final, held in February!

Year 5 and 6 Football with Westroyd 28.9.2026
On Monday, Westroyd came down to take part in an interschool sporting event. This gave the opportunity for the children to have an element of competition with local schools and something we hope to do more of this year! The children took part in a total of matches and the weather conditions were great. As a team, they took it in turns to have a go at different positions and showed great resilience throughout. Well done everyone!

On Thursday, Year 3 and 4 took part in a Come and Try handball event at Crawshaw High School. The children took part in a range of matches against other schools and were fantastic. They won some games and lost some games but the children showed true sportsmanship, always celebrating other teams successes and shaking hands after every match. Darcey was awarded a 'respect' wristband from a sports leader for showing respect throughout the matches - well done!
KS2 Fun Run 17.09.2026
On Thursday, we had our first sporting event of the year! The weather conditions were not too great witht the rain pouring but another school joined us to take part in a fun run at Springbank. The children had to put their stamina to the test by running continuously for 40 minutes. They showed great determination, even when they were getting tired. We have lots of events lined up for this year with cross country and handball next week.
