Spring 2 Week 5

This week, Year 2 have continued developing their understanding of mass, capacity and temperature in maths, with a particular focus on measuring in millilitres and litres. The children took part in a hands-on activity where they measured water into a variety of containers, first predicting which would hold the greatest capacity before testing their ideas through practical exploration.

In writing, we began an exciting new unit based on the poem My Dragon Kite. Working in groups, the children rehearsed and performed the poem, using actions and expression to bring the words to life!

Our science learning has built on our ongoing investigation into how the amount of water a plant receives can affect its growth. The children are continuing to observe their plants closely and record any changes over time.

We also enjoyed a lovely morning walk around our local area of Farsley as part of our geography topic this term. During the walk, the children compared features of our local environment with those of Beijing and even had time to stop at the park!
