Spring 1 Week 5
In Week 5, the children continued their art project about Andy Goldsworthy, by sketching part of their outdoor sculpture they made a few weeks ago. Using a sketching pencil, they used all their knowledge of line drawing and shading to create a mirror image of their sculpture. We were impressed how carefully the children worked and how beautiful their sketches were.
In maths, we moved onto addition and subtraction and the children began to learn all about doubles. They worked hard to identify doubles and also to find number bnds to 20 using facts they already know about number bonds to 10. e.g I know 6+4=10 so 16+4=20.
In History, we talked about 2 final explorers. The children noticed that all the explorers they had learnt about so far were men so this week, we learned about the exciting adventures of Isabella Bird and astronaut Helen Sharman.
