Spring 1 Week 6

Wow! We can't believe we are at the end of another half-term. We have been so impressed with the children's enthusiasm for their learning this term.

This week, we finished off our History topic with a discussion about who we thought the greatest explorer was. We gave reasons for our answers and recorded them in our big class book. 1BW chose Isabella Bird (16 votes) and 1W's votes were more evenly split, but the winner was Helen Sharman (7 votes)

We conducted another science experiment to find out which material would be the best to make a raincoat out of. We talked about it needing to be waterproof and comfy and learnt about Charles mackintosh, the inventor of a type of waterproof material.

We finished our writing unit on Owl babies by learning what adjectives were. The children then used these adjectives to write some sentences to describe the forest. The children have been really keen to show off their writing over the past couple of weeks and we are seeing lots of progress being made with securing capital letters, full stops and finger spaces.

Finally, we packed our bags and headed off to explore the jungle in our dance lesson this week. The children came up with interesting moves for different animals and used a backing track to demonstrate all the different ways of moving.
