Spring 2 Week 2

Spring 2 Week 2

It has been a very exciting and creative week in Year 3!

The children enjoyed a fantastic trip to Otley Chevin, where they had their first attempt at drawing a landscape. This visit helped them observe the natural environment closely and practise sketching what they could see, in preparation for our upcoming Art unit on landscapes inspired by Claude Monet.

We also celebrated World Book Day this week. The children made a fantastic effort with their costumes and it was wonderful to see so many creative ideas. The School Council organised and delivered a fun World Book Day quiz, and the children also took part in a special assembly to showcase their outfits. We were very lucky to have a visit from author Mark Bradley, the creator of Bumble & Snug. During the workshop, the children learned how to sketch comic-style characters and had the opportunity to create their own short comic strips.

In Reading, the class continued enjoying our class text, The Creakers. The children worked on developing their retrieval and inference skills, learning how to find clues within the text to deepen their understanding of the story. They are thoroughly enjoying the book and eagerly look forward to story time each day!

In Art, the children began creating their research pages on Claude Monet, learning about the famous Impressionist painter and exploring how he used landscapes as inspiration for his artwork.

It has been a wonderful week full of creativity, reading and exploration in Year 3!
