It has been another exciting and busy week in Year 3!
In Writing, the children have been practising using adverbs in preparation for writing a police report based on our class book, The Creakers. On Monday morning, the children arrived to find a mysterious ‘crime scene’ in the classroom! They examined clues carefully and made predictions about our new text, showing great inference skills and enthusiasm.
In Maths, the focus has been on calculating the perimeter of different shapes. On Friday, the children took part in a recap lesson where they first worked out the perimeter of various LEGO shapes before heading outside to solve perimeter word problems. They showed excellent teamwork and reasoning skills.
In Geography, the children learnt about different types of settlements. They studied maps of Farsley, Pudsey and Leeds, discussing the similarities and differences between them. The class then created LEGO models to represent the four types of settlements: hamlet, village, town and city, helping to bring their learning to life.
In PE, the children began their tennis unit, focusing on developing hand-eye coordination and practising how to keep the ball balanced on their racket. In gymnastics, they explored different ways of travelling and worked on using space safely and creatively.
It has been a fantastic week full of investigation, teamwork and active learning in Year 3!
