What a lovely second week!
In Maths, we have been focusing on ordering decimals and finding equivalent fractions and decimals. The children have been building their confidence when comparing numbers and deepening their understanding of how fractions and decimals link together. It has been wonderful to see them applying their knowledge to solve a range of reasoning and problem-solving challenges.
In English, we have been exploring complex sentences and subordinating clauses. The class have enjoyed experimenting with different ways to extend their sentences and add extra detail to their writing. They are becoming more confident in using a range of subordinating conjunctions to create more sophisticated and engaging pieces of work.
In Science, we have been learning about the asexual reproduction of plants and exploring the plant life cycle. The children have shown great curiosity when discussing how plants reproduce and grow. We have planted beans in class and are excited to observe the germination stage over the coming weeks as we watch our plants begin to grow.
Outdoor Learning has linked beautifully with World Book Day, where the children used scrap shed materials to design and create their own dragons. This creative session encouraged teamwork, imagination and problem-solving skills, and the results were fantastic!
On Thursday, we celebrated 'World Book Day' where the children looked brilliant in their costumes! We came together for a day celebrating their favourite books and even had an author visit for a really special assembly.
Well done, Year 5, for such a positive and enthusiastic week of learning.
