This week in Year 5, we have been busy developing our writing skills in English by continuing our Viking sagas, with a strong focus on using a range of sentence types to make our writing more engaging and effective. ✍️
In spelling, we have been practising words with the suffixes -ibly and -ably, helping the children to build confidence and accuracy when applying these patterns in their independent writing. 🔤
During our reading sessions, we have continued enjoying The 1000 Year Old Boy, sharing thoughtful discussions, predictions, and reflections about the characters and events in the story. 📚
In Science, we have been learning about asexual reproduction in plants, where the children created detailed research pages and explored real-life examples such as potatoes and strawberry plants. 🌱
In Spanish, we have continued our topic on pets, learning new vocabulary and practising speaking and listening skills through fun activities and conversations. 🐾
In Outdoor Learning, the children had a fantastic time learning how to make axes, developing practical skills, teamwork, and an understanding of how tools were used in the past. 🪓
On Friday, we celebrated Red Nose Day, taking part in activities and enjoying the opportunity to support a fantastic cause while having lots of fun together. 🔴
It has been a fantastic week full of determination and hard work, well done, Year 5! ⭐
