Spring 2 Week 5

It has been another busy and exciting week, with lots of fantastic learning taking place across the curriculum. The children have particularly enjoyed their outdoor learning sessions, where they worked together to build their own longhouses using natural materials found in the environment. It was wonderful to see their creativity, problem-solving skills and teamwork in action.

In Commando Joe’s, the focus has been on collaboration and communication. The children took part in team challenges, including designing and building their own forts. They showed great determination and resilience, supporting one another and working together to overcome problems.

In English, we have been continuing our work on sagas, with a strong focus on editing and improving our writing. The children have been thinking carefully about how to uplevel their work by improving vocabulary, sentence structure and overall flow.

In Maths, Year 5 have been learning all about line graphs. They have been interpreting data, drawing their own graphs and developing their understanding of how information can be presented clearly.

In D.T., the children have begun an exciting new project designing their own moving toys. They have been exploring ideas, sketching designs and thinking about how their toys will work.

In Computing, we have been using micro:bits, which the children have really enjoyed. They have been developing their coding skills through hands-on activities and experimenting with different programs.

Alongside all of this, the children have been busy rehearsing for our upcoming talent show, showing great enthusiasm and confidence. They have also continued to enjoy their swimming sessions and have been making the most of opportunities to read regularly, both in school and at home.

It’s been a fantastic week, and we’re very proud of all the effort and enthusiasm the children have shown!
