Arts Week 2019
This week, we welcomed the children back after their Christmas break to an absolutely fantastic week jam-packed with music, art and drama.
We began the week by generating a bank of adjectives to describe sea creatures and then used these words to create a poem based around a sea creature.
The children then learnt about the artist Paul Klee. They recreated his painting 'Sun & Castle' using pastels and then turned their hand to drawing. Paul Klee is famous for his abstract art and the children created some very abstract fish using a single pencil line. Later on in the week, the children created a cubism inspired background using tissue paper and created a final fish using pastels to stick onto their background. The results are fantastic!
The children also contributed to a whole school project where they had to draw and paint a very small picture of a big cat - this will form part of a shield to represent each school team.
On Thursday, the whole school took part in a carousel of activities where they moved around school to different classrooms and were taught by different teachers. The children loved the day and got to experience Drama, Printing, Poetry writing, Song writing, 3D Art and crafts.
All in all, it has been a great way to begin the new term and it has been wonderful to see the children so engaged in their learning.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
