Summer 1 Week 2

This week in Year 5, we have had another busy and engaging week.

In PE, the children have been developing their athletics skills, with a particular focus on throwing techniques. They practised their accuracy and control through javelin-style throws, showing great determination and teamwork.

In Computing, we began exploring vector drawings. The children learned how to create digital images using shapes and lines, developing their precision and creativity with design tools.

In Maths, we continued our work on angles, where pupils practised measuring and estimating angles with increasing accuracy. It has been great to see their confidence growing with using protractors.

In English, we explored informal language, looking at when it is appropriate to use it and how it differs from more formal writing. The class enjoyed identifying examples and trying out their own informal phrases.

In Spanish, we have been learning the days of the week and the months of the year. The children have been practising their pronunciation and beginning to use the vocabulary in simple conversations.

In Reading, we have continued with Cosmic, and the class remains thoroughly engaged with the story, building on our retrieval and inference skills.

In Science, our focus has been space. The children took part in an exciting relay race to put the planets of our solar system in the correct order, before heading outside to use chalk to sketch their own large-scale solar systems. This hands-on learning really helped to bring the topic to life.

Well done to everyone for another fantastic week of learning!
