Summer 2 Week 4

An Action-Packed Week in Year 5!

It has been an incredibly busy and exciting week of learning for Year 5, both inside and outside the classroom. In Maths, the children took a deep dive below zero as they mastered the concept of negative numbers, learning how to count backwards through zero and solve number problems.

Meanwhile, our English lessons have been buzzing with journalistic energy. To prepare for writing our own newspaper reports, the class has been busy learning all about relative clauses, discovering how to add extra detail and drama to their writing.

In geography this week, we explored the powerful forces of nature. The children learned all about how earthquakes happen around the world, studying tectonic plates and the impact these natural events have on our planet. We also made the most of the weather during our PE lesson, heading out onto the field for a fantastic game of rounders. The children showed off excellent teamwork, sharp fielding skills, and had some brilliant hits!

The absolute highlight of the week, however, was Transition Day. Our Year 5 pupils took a brave and exciting step up by spending time in their new Year 6 classrooms and getting to know their future teachers. They handled the move with wonderful maturity, enthusiasm, and plenty of smiles. We are incredibly proud of how hard Year 5 have worked this week, and it is clear they are more than ready for the final chapter of their primary school journey!
