Year 3 have made a fantastic start to the Summer Term, settling back into school life with enthusiasm and a positive attitude towards their learning.
In Writing, the children have been developing their understanding of the past and present tense. They have practised identifying which tense has been used in different sentences before applying this knowledge in their own writing, helping them to become more accurate and confident writers.
In Reading, the class has begun their new class novel, Planet Omar. The children have enjoyed meeting the main characters and are already excited to find out what adventures lie ahead.
In Maths, the children have continued their learning about time, focusing on digital clocks. They have been learning how to read digital times and make connections between analogue and digital clocks, building their confidence in telling the time in different formats.
In Science, the children have started their new topic on plants. They have learnt about the different parts of a plant, including the roots, stem, leaves and flowers and explored the important job each part plays in helping a plant to survive and grow.
In PE, the children have begun their rounders unit. They have practised a variety of fielding techniques and have been introduced to using a rounders bat to strike the ball, showing great teamwork and determination as they develop their skills.
A particular highlight of the fortnight was our school sleepover! The children had an amazing time staying at school overnight, enjoying outdoor games, a whole-school game of hide and seek, a delicious takeaway from Takin’ the Pizza and a relaxing film night with their friends. They showed fantastic independence and resilience throughout the evening – and did a brilliant job of staying up very late! It was a memorable experience that everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
It has been a wonderful start to the term, and we look forward to another half term full of exciting learning experiences!
