Cheer and Dance 13.11.2024
A group of children from Years 2 and 3 recently attended a cheer dance workshop at Benton Park, alongside many other local schools. The children learnt a variety of cheerleading moves, jumps and cannons then put it into a full dance routine, despite the fact that some of the children had never tried cheerleading before. They all worked extremely hard and were super proud of themselves as a result. As well as this, a few children earned ‘determination’ bands for their efforts after being recognised by the Sports Leaders from Benton Park who helped to run the event. Not only did these children work so hard, they made Springbank very proud. Well done to all involved!

Cross Country competition 27.09.2024
On Friday, 27th September 56 children from Springbank entered the qualifying rounds of the Leeds Schools Cross-Country competition at Stanningley Rugby Club. We were blessed with almost perfect cross-country conditions - cool and sunny with a little breeze and this certainly helped keep spirits high! Year 3 and 4 started us off with excellent individual and team performances. For these year groups, it was the children's first ever experience of competitive cross-country after the competition was unfortunately cancelled due to adverse weather in September and October. This made their performances - all children came in the top 50 of the area! - even more impressive. After Year 3 and 4 had set the bar so high, Years 5 and 6 had big footsteps to follow in and they did so admirably with a huge amount of top ten finishes! The children represented school brilliantly, showed excellent perseverance, determination and sportsmanship throughout the afternoon. It really was a brilliant event to be a part of and we now await the results to see if any children or teams have qualified for the Leeds City Final, held in February!
