  • Summer Music Concert

    Thu 18 Jun 2026

Over 80 children performed in our annual summer concert this year, with performances on drums, keyboard, guitars, violins, clarinets, flutes, saxophone, cornets and trombone! It was wonderful to see children from Year 2 all the way up to our Year 6 leavers, performing in a mix of groups, solos and duos, and celebrating the hard work they have put in during their lessons with our visiting Artforms tutors over the year. Our Year 6 Music Ambassadors led the concert, and our Springbank Orchestra and Singers ensembles also entertained the audience.

  • 5W climb Pen-y-Ghent

    Tue 16 Jun 2026

5W had an incredible day taking on the challenge of climbing Pen-y-ghent. Despite the steep sections and changeable weather, the children showed outstanding determination, resilience and teamwork throughout the walk. As they made their way up the mountain, the weather began to clear so that they were eventually rewarded with a view from the top. Every child rose to the challenge, encouraging one another and demonstrating a fantastic attitude from start to finish. We were incredibly proud of their perseverance and behaviour, which reflected our school values perfectly. Reaching the summit was a huge achievement and one that the children will remember for years to come.

  • 1W trip to Harlow Carr

    Mon 15 Jun 2026

On Monday, 1W went to Harlow Carr in Harrogate to enjoy the lovely gardens and support their learning on plants and the four seasons. We started off with a hunt around the grounds where the children had to work together to spot things usually found in the summer months such as bees & daisies. We also went into the edibles garden to spot different fruits and vegetables that can be grown in the UK. All the children had great fun playing in one of the play areas - they loved seeing how high they could push the big swing! After lunch, the children went searching around the rose gardens for petals to create a beautiful bookmark and back in the classroom afterwards they had the opportunities to draw and label what they had seen. It was lovely to see the children enjoying themselves, pointing out plants and trees they have learnt about and enjoying their colourful surroundings.

  • Year 6 trip to Flammingo Land

    Thu 11 Jun 2026

Year 6 have recently headed off on one of the most hotly anticipated trips of the year - Flamingo Land! Despite a less-than-favorable weather forecast, luck was on our side. Apart from a quick lunchtime downpour, the rest of the day was warm and beautiful and the children certainly didn't let a few raindrops dampen their spirits. It was absolutely wonderful to watch the children relax, have fun and represent our school so brilliantly. Given the independence of remote supervision, our pupils truly rose to the challenge and showed fantastic maturity, looked after each other and kept smiles on their faces all day long. Well done, Year 6! We really hope this trip has created lasting, happy memories for them to cherish as they prepare for their transition to high school. They have certainly worked their socks off and were very deserving of a day of rollercoasters, neon blue slush and more sweets than you could shake a stick at!

  • Springbank Singers perform at the Live at Home community group

    Thu 11 Jun 2026

Our Springbank Singers group visited St John’s Church Hall last week, to perform for the Farsley Live at Home group’s lunch. We visit the group two or three times a year to entertain the older members of our local community. The children were absolutely amazing, and sang a set of songs which their audience thoroughly enjoyed, and even joined in with us for some! The singers really enjoyed their visit, and were treated to juice and biscuits for their hard work and fantastic performance.

  • Year 5 trip to Magna

    Wed 10 Jun 2026

Year 5 had a fantastic trip to Magna as part of their learning on natural disaster. During the day, the children explored Magna’s four fascinating pavilions: Earth, Air, Fire and Water. They were captivated by the dramatic displays in the Fire Pavilion, enjoyed investigating the forces of nature in the Air Pavilion, discovered the power and importance of water in the Water Pavilion and learned about the materials and resources found beneath our feet in the Earth Pavilion. The children also took part in an engaging volcano workshop, where they deepened their understanding of how volcanoes are formed and the impact they can have on the world around us. A highlight of the day was exploring the Aqua-Trek, where the children had great fun interacting with the water features. Throughout the visit, the children showed excellent behaviour, curiosity and enthusiasm, and were a credit to the school. We were incredibly proud of them and delighted to see them enjoying such a memorable day of learning.

  • Year 3 Giant Sleepover

    Sat 06 Jun 2026

Year 3 had an incredible evening at their school sleepover! They thoroughly enjoyed the exciting experience of staying overnight at school, taking part in outdoor games, a whole-school game of hide and seek, a lively disco, a delicious takeaway, and a relaxing film night with their friends.

Throughout the evening, the children showed fantastic resilience, independence, and enthusiasm, embracing every activity with big smiles and positive attitudes. They even did a brilliant job of staying up very late! It was a truly memorable experience, filled with laughter, fun, and wonderful memories that everyone will treasure.

  • Year 4 go to Leeds City Skipping Final

    Fri 05 Jun 2026

Our fantastic skippers in Year 4 made it to the Leeds City Skipping Final at Morley Leisure Centre last week! The buzz of excitement had been building ever since their win at the Armley heat a few weeks prior and the children couldn't wait to show off everything they'd been working so hard on. From perfecting their individual skips and synchronized group skipping to performing a brilliant, custom-choreographed 'skip dance' in front of a crowd, they gave it their absolute all. There were definitely a few nervous butterflies before stepping out, but they channeled that energy into determination and put on an incredible show. While we didn't bring home the winner's trophy this time, just qualifying for a city-wide final is a massive achievement - we are all incredibly proud of their hard work. Well done Year 4!

  • Year 6 Bikeability training

    Thu 04 Jun 2026

The Year 6 children have been spending the last few days taking part in Bikeability workshops with a view to earning their Level 2 accreditation.  Sessions will continue after half term so all children have the chance to participate.  The sessions began in the school playground where the children built their confidence and started to learn some of the rules of cycling on the road, but in a safe environment. Some children, who showed confidence and demonstrated safe cycling skills, had the opportunity to get out on the open road and put their new learning into practice. Performing manoeuvres in the local area, the children were able to gain real-life confidence on the roads as they worked towards the final badge.   All Year 6 children so far have made progress with their cycling skills, which we hope will enable them to continue to enjoy cycling safely outside school.

  • Reception's trip to Abbey House

    Wed 03 Jun 2026

We have launched our new topic, Toys with a fantastic trip to Abbey House Museum. The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring a range of toys from the past and were fascinated to discover how different they are from the toys we use today. They showed great curiosity as they compared old and new toys and learned how play has changed over time. It was a fun and memorable experience that has helped bring our new topic to life.
