Fieldwork

Year 2 - Using a Compass

Year 2 headed outside to develop their compass skills. Through practical activities, pupils learned how to use a compass to identify the four cardinal points—north, south, east and west—and used these directions to navigate their surroundings. This hands-on experience helped bring map skills to life and build their confidence in understanding direction and location.

Year 3 Geography Fieldwork: Exploring Land Use in Pudsey

Year 3 took their geography learning out into the community with a fieldwork trip to Pudsey town centre! During a guided walk around the area, the children carefully observed and identified different types of land use, linking directly to their current geography topic. They explored examples of leisure, commercial, residential, industrial and even agricultural spaces, developing their understanding of how land is used within a local environment.
