Attendance Policy
At Farsley Springbank Primary School we are committed to providing a broad, balanced and effective education for all the children who attend our school. For our children to gain the greatest benefit from their education it is vital that they should be at school, on time, every day the school is open unless the reason for the absence is unavoidable. We believe regular attendance is of the greatest importance because children:
- Have full access to the curriculum and are more likely to achieve
- Are able to build positive relationships and develop social skills which prepare them for the next phase in their education
- Are able to develop their self-esteem, their sense of worth and sense of belonging
- Are able to develop a positive attitude to school and the world of work, understanding how important it is to be punctual and reliable
- Are safe from harm and remain within the law
AIMS OF THIS POLICY INCLUDE:
- To define a clear, effective system for managing the punctuality or absence
- To improve the overall percentage of attendance and punctuality of pupils at school
- Ensure that all stakeholders have greater awareness of their responsibilities
- Maintain a high profile for attendance and punctuality
- Improve monitoring and reporting of attendance and punctuality
- To develop positive and consistent communication between home and school
It is the responsibility of the school and parents/carers to work together to ensure that our children attend and enjoy their primary years. We believe that the most important factor in promoting good attendance is the development of positive attitudes towards school. To this end we strive to make our school a happy and rewarding experience for all children.
