Our first weeks in year 5!
We have had a very busy couple of weeks in year 5 and have been working really hard in all areas of the curriculum.
In topic, we have been learning all about the Solar system for our topic, 'Is anyone out there?' - ask us at home to tell you the order of the planets! We have been mixing this with some scientific skills such as drawing accurate diagrams when we learned about why we had day and night! Look at our rap video below to see some of our knowledge so far!
In science, we have also been learning about forces and so far have had a look at friction and air resistance, known as contact forces. We can now identify where forces are acting in lots of different situations!
We're especially proud of our writing work so far. We're managed to look at two writing units. First we wrote some descriptions of some weird and wonderful planets we saw in a video. For the last couple of weeks, we've been writing about the first female cosmonaut, Valentina Tereshkova, who managed to orbit the earth 48 times in 1963! Below you can see some pictures of our writing, which we're very proud of!
