What a fantastic first week back in Year 5! The children have settled into their new classroom and begun getting to know their new teachers. Our key focus this week has been respect and routines, with a strong focus on building a positive classroom environment where everyone feels ready to learn. We have also placed a big emphasis on presentation and taking pride in our work. 🌟
In Maths, we revisited some of our Year 4 learning through fluency activities. The children worked hard to retrieve key skills and knowledge, helping to build their confidence and prepare them for the exciting mathematical learning ahead. 🔢
In English, we have focused heavily on handwriting and spelling, developing accuracy, presentation and confidence in our written work. The children have been working hard to form their letters carefully and apply their spelling knowledge independently, with a real emphasis on taking pride in the work they produce. ✏️📖
In PSHE, we explored the importance of respect and discussed what we would like our classroom to be like this year. The children shared their ideas about how we can treat one another kindly, listen to each other and create a positive learning environment where everyone can thrive. 🤝💭
It has been a wonderful start to Year 5, and we are incredibly proud of how the children have approached their first week. We are looking forward to a fantastic year of learning, growing and achieving together! 🌟
