Autumn 1, Week 2

It has been another amazing week of learning in Year 3 this week and we are really impressed by how well the children are adapting to their new routines in Key Stage 2!

In Maths, the children retrieved their learning from Year 2 on addition and subtraction, using manipulatives to secure their knowledge before we move on to the Year 3 place value content next week. We've also spent lots of time practising our times tables this week, beginning with our 2s before moving on to our 5s - we're using lots of different chants and funny voices as well as Supermovers to help us learn our tables!

Inspired by the story The Day the Crayons Quit, Year 3 challenged themselves to independently write and edit simple sentences that were correctly punctuated before moving on to create sentences which included coordinating conjunctions.

We also launched our first class novel this week, where the children took on the roles of detectives to find out who had made a big mess in Mrs Fletcher's garden!

In History and Geography this week, the children took part in an escape room where they had to answer questions to get the keys that would close the time portal - the children did really well with this and it was lovely to see and hear just how much they knew!

We are thoroughly impressed with the effort and wonderful work Year 3 has produced so far!
