What another fantastic week we have had in Year 5! The children have continued to embrace their learning with enthusiasm and have shown wonderful determination, creativity and teamwork across the curriculum. 🌟
In Reading, we continued our class novel, The Explorer. The children have been thoroughly enjoying this exciting adventure story and have continued to explore the characters, events and setting as the story unfolds. We are all eager to discover what happens next! 📖🌿
In English, we have begun our diary writing, imagining that we have crash-landed deep in the Amazon rainforest! The children have been using their imaginations to put themselves in the shoes of an explorer, thinking carefully about their experiences, thoughts and feelings. We can't wait to see their adventures come to life through their writing! ✏️🌴
In Maths, we have been developing our understanding of place value by partitioning numbers and using number lines to represent and explore them. We have also been investigating what happens when we find 10, 100, 1,000 and 10,000 more or less than a given number. The children have been working hard to deepen their understanding of increasingly large numbers. 🔢
In Geography, we have been learning all about lines of latitude and longitude and how they help us locate places around the world. To bring our learning to life, the children created their very own globes using balloons, adding the continents as well as lines of latitude and longitude. It was a fantastic hands-on way to develop our geographical understanding! 🌎🎈
In PE, we took part in a Commando Joe's lesson with a special focus on collaboration and teamwork. The children worked together to complete challenges, communicating effectively, listening to one another and supporting their teammates. It was wonderful to see everyone working together and demonstrating such positive team spirit! 💪🤝
In Spelling and Handwriting, we have been focusing on the suffix -tious, exploring words that use this spelling pattern. We have also been developing our handwriting through our focus on the hill-to-jam join, particularly when writing the letter 't'. The children have been practising carefully and working hard to make their handwriting increasingly neat and consistent. ✍️📝
Another brilliant week in Year 5! We are incredibly proud of the children's curiosity, creativity and determination. We are looking forward to another exciting week of learning and adventure! 🌟
