What another fantastic week we have had in Year 5! The children have continued to embrace their learning with enthusiasm and have shown wonderful curiosity, creativity and determination across the curriculum. 🌟

In Reading, we have continued reading our class novel, The Explorer. The children have been thoroughly enjoying this exciting adventure story and have continued to explore the characters, events and setting as the story unfolds. We are all eager to find out what happens next! 📖🌿

In English, we have been learning all about fronted adverbials and how they can be used to make our writing more interesting and engaging. The children have been applying their new understanding to their diary entries, carefully considering how they can describe when, where and how events happen. We have been very impressed with the creativity and detail in their writing! ✏️📚

In Maths, we have been developing our understanding of rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1,000. The children have been practising identifying which numbers are closer and using their knowledge to round accurately. They have worked hard to explain their reasoning and deepen their understanding of place value. 🔢

In Science, we have been learning about gravity and investigating how different factors can affect the way objects fall. During our outdoor learning, the children carried out an exciting investigation by dropping leaves with different surface areas. They observed what happened and thought carefully about how air resistance affected the way the leaves fell. It was fantastic to see the children putting their scientific thinking into practice! 🍃🔬

In Geography, we have been learning about the different features of rivers, including meanders, waterfalls, river banks and tributaries. To bring our learning to life, the children created their own models of rivers and carefully included some of the features we have been studying. We then went on a local walk to Fulneck, where we were able to spot and explore real river features in our local area. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect our classroom learning with the world around us! 🌎💧🥾

Another brilliant week in Year 5! We are incredibly proud of the children's curiosity, enthusiasm and willingness to get involved in every aspect of their learning. We are looking forward to another exciting week of learning and adventure! 🌟
