In Maths, we have continued learning about place value. We have been looking at numbers to 100 on a number line, counting in 10s and 1s. The children have been learning to use the starting and ending numbers to work out the value of each jump. We have then used this knowledge to estimate where different numbers should sit on a number line. The children have shown great perseverance when explaining and justifying their thinking!

In Writing, we have been exploring our class book, Don’t Look in This Book! The children have used expanded noun phrases to create detailed descriptions of the characters, choosing interesting adjectives to bring their writing to life. We have also been using conjunctions to connect our ideas and make our sentences more interesting. We have been so impressed with the creativity and imagination shown in our writing!

In History, we have explored the fascinating history of flight. The children discovered that the very first flying machine was the hot air balloon, invented by the Montgolfier brothers. Working in threes, they took turns to retell the facts they had learnt and then presented them back to the class. They showed great collaboration skills.

In Science, we have been learning about offspring and how young animals resemble their parents. The children enjoyed identifying similarities and differences between animals and their young, developing their scientific observation and vocabulary.
