We've had another busy but brilliant week here in Year 3 and it has been really lovely to see how curious the children have been about the new learning that we have been doing!
In writing, the children produced second drafts of their work from the previous week where they focused on improving the content of their writing. They went on then to edit their work for punctuation and spelling errors before creating their final pieces! Lot's of fun was had when creating these as the children first used teabags to make their 'WANTED' posters appear old before using their very best handwriting to write up their work!
In maths, the children have been continuing to expand on their place value knowledge by working on using known mathematical facts to help them fill in number lines and estimate where numbers should go on a number line. The children really enjoyed using a little chant to help them remember to find the difference, count the intervals and divide! During our times table practice, we have gone back to recapping on the 5 times table in order to consolidate our knowledge of counting in 5s and to then be able to use it to count beyond 5 x 12.
Our history lesson this week focused on understanding more about the Stone Age. We travelled back in time to the Palaeolithic to find out about hunter gatherers, to the Mesolithic to see how people were beginning to stay in different places for longer amounts of time and then finally to the Neolithic to find out what new things began to happen towards the end of the Stone Age!
In computing this week, the children have been taking part in more work around online safety, strengthening their understanding of who they should or could share information with and who they shouldn't.
