Murton Park
What an incredible experience Year 5 had when they took a trip back in time to Murton Park, where they all became part of the Roman Army. Dressed in their Roman tunics, the children wrote application letters in traditional Roman script and made an oil lamp from clay that they were able to take home. Their favourite part of the day was the weapons training! The children worked in units, learning to fight with wooden swords and javelins. They impressed the Centurion by properly forming a 'tortoise' formation and used this to scare off a rogue Celtic town woman. At the end of all their hard work, they earned their Roman pay! Here are a few photographs from the trip, we also managed to get some videos of their incredible fighting skills!
