It has been another brilliant week in Year 3 this week where the children have learnt about lots of different things and done lots of different activities!
In writing, the children have finished their second writing unit of the year by writing out their full instructions for how to prank Mrs Twit! They've published their brilliant instructions in the form of a graphic novel complete with pictures!
In reading, we have been learning all about the Cheddar Man - a Mesolithic skeleton that was found in Gough's cave in Cheddar Gorge. The children were fascinated about the role of DNA in finding out more about this Stone Age man!
In maths, we have been continuing our learning on addition and subtraction by learning how to add 1s and 10s to 3-digit numbers and in our times table lessons we have been concentrating on learning how to count on and count backwards in 3s.
Our history lessons this week have focused on learning more about the Neolithic monument of Stonehenge in Wiltshire. The children showed lots of curiosity about how and why the monument was built and were especially astounded by the theory that the stones were placed their by giants!
Out science lesson this week was great fun! We learnt about what the skeleton is there fore - protection, support and movement as well as some of the major bones in the body. After this, we had lots of fun post it noting our bodies with the bones to reinforce our learning!
