Remote Learning Info for Parents

Remote Learning Information for Parents

At Farsley Springbank Primary School we have been busy reviewing and adapting our Remote Education Offer. We have listened to parental feedback, considered the age and needs of our pupils, and considered the findings provided by OSFTED in their review of Remote Education (on 11th January 2021) which recommends:

  1. Keep it simple
  2. When adapting the curriculum, focus on the basics
  3. Feedback, retrieval and assessment are more important than ever
  4. Laptops are slightly better than accessing via a phone
  5. Live lessons are not always best - different approaches to remote education suit different types of content and pupils. Mixed models may be effective in some cases.
  6. Engagement matters

When surveyed, our parents wanted pre-recorded lessons more than live lessons (57% to 34%) as pre-recorded lessons provide more flexibility for working parents and make access easier if family members are sharing devices.  However, our families also value having some live contact with class teachers on a regular basis.

Our remote learning plan has been developed to meet the needs of our pupils and their families in mind. We believe that this strategy will work best for the children at our school.
