Diary writing 25.03.21

Diary writing

Over the last two weeks, the children in Year 3 have been writing a diary entry as Howard Carter. To really transport the children back to 1922, we turned the classroom in to a tomb and the children made a word bank to describe how they felt during different points of the discovery. Using a thesaurus, we then built on this vocabulary and really explored emotive language - making sure to mimic this language within our writing. Once we had edited and improved our drafts, we wrote our diaries up on paper and tea-bagged them to make them authentically ancient! We then preformed a dramatic reading of our diary to the rest of the class. The children were so engaged in this topic and have put so much effort in to their work! Take a look below!
