In the build up to Easter Year 2 had a week full of excitement as they took part in this years Science Week. The children took part in a range of activities which sparked a love of science and allowed us to consider how science applies to the real world. To start of the week we became mini detectives, learning about forensics and how identifying finger prints can be useful for this role. Later on in the week we had a special visit from Zoo Lab in which the children had the chance to meet lots of unique animals and learn all about where they live and how they survive. As part of this the children were able to meet and hold some creatures including a python! To help the children understand which careers science is needed for we were visited by a midwife who explained to the children how important her role is and what she does in her job. This included teaching us about how babies grow and how important it is for a midwife to support mums during pregnancy - A huge thank you to Karen Elson for visiting Year 2 and answering all our questions! To round of the week Year 2 took a trip back in time and explored the long process of how a fossil is made, we practiced making some of our own fossils and got to take them home. The children have had an amazing Science Week packed full of lots of activities, we hope you enjoy looking through the highlights of the week!
