Week 1 23.03.20

Friday 27th March 2020

Good morning Year 4 and happy Friday, you've almost made it to the end of your first week of home learning! Miss Lax and I have really enjoyed seeing all of the wonderful work that you have been completing, your double page spreads are looking lovely and your stories have been so interesting to read.

It's been great to see that a lot of you have also been joining in with Joe Wicks PE on a morning, don't forget to tune in at 9am!

It is time to finish your story today but before you do, don't forget to complete the fronted adverbials grammar task as this will help you to complete today's writing objective! Don't forget, when you have completed your writing, you need to use your editing COGS to make sure that you haven't made any mistakes, pay particular attention to making sure all of your sentences make sense and follow on from each other! I've also uploaded another picture from our handwriting book for you to complete today to make sure your handwriting continues to look beautiful!

Your maths work today is a sheet on perimeter, if you need a little refresher on how to calculate the perimeter then try the BBC bitesize website link:

 https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zvmxsbk/articles/zsr4k7h

If you haven't already, today is the day to finish your double page spreads on the Ancient Greek Gods and Goddesses, I really hope you have enjoyed learning all about them!

Have a wonderful day Year 4 and remember, if you would like to send myself and Miss Lax any pictures of what you have been doing or the work you have completed, please email!

Today's Timetable

Handwriting: two lines of each part please!

Thursday 26th March 2020

Good morning, year 4. We hope you're all doing well and are enjoying the work you have been doing so far.

Today, you will begin to write your story. You only need to write your opening and build up paragraphs, so make sure you take time with this. Remember, we prefer quality over quantity. Think about the type of language you are going to use to create effect - make the reader feel as though they are in your story themselves by being really descriptive! In GPS, you will need to complete the adverbs sheet. Why don't you challenge yourself to use some adverbs in your writing?

In maths, you will be revising and practicing the short multiplication method that we have covered over the last couple of weeks. I have uploaded an extension task for those who complete this task quickly and would like an extra challenge!

There is no reading task for today, but a science one. The task will focus on sound, our first science topic that we looked at this year. Put your knowledge to the test and see how much you can remember!

Finally, don't forget your daily 15 minutes on Spelling Shed and TTRS. Remember, the TTRS inter-class battle is still running!

If there are any pieces of work you are proud of and would like to share with others in the year group, please send them to myself or Mrs Hayton and we will post them onto our class page.

Day three of my 9am daily workouts

Tuesday 24.03.2020

Good morning Year 4!

We really hope you enjoyed your first day of home learning. We hope that you managed to get lots of your work done and still got time for a little fun!

We know there were a few issues with Spelling Shed yesterday and that some of you were unable to access the game properly, We think we have managed to fix the game however if you are still unable to play it properly then please email either myself or Miss Lax. Just in case Spelling Shed does decide to misbehave again, we had added some spelling activity ideas and a copy of the Year 3 and 4 Spelling list to this page!

We know that some of you really enjoy our maths lessons and particularly enjoy wrestling with challenging problem solving tasks so we have added a document with some different problem solving activities about multiplication!

If you have any pieces of work you are really proud of and you would like us to take a look at or you just want to tell us what other activities you have been doing then please email us! We really want to see all of the great work you have done and add it to the website so that all of your friends can see it as well!

Have another great day Year 4, do lots of work, make sure you wash your hands, listen to your adults and above all try and have a little fun!
