In maths, Year 6 have started learning all about algebra. We began by looking at simple function machines to introduce the idea of rules before moving on to forming algebraic expressions. This is a really tricky concept to understand so we used multilink cubes and base 10 to help us visualise what the questions were asking us to say. We represented out letters with multilink and our numbers with base 10 blocks to really break down the problem and give us a concrete version of the question in front of us.
