Autumn 2 Week 7 17.12.20

Christmas is here!!

The children have all worked incredibly hard over this half term and are ready for a good rest over the Christmas holidays! We are very proud of the progress the children are making and how well they follow the classroom rules and routines.

This week we have been busy learning right up until the very last day! We have continued to learn letters and sounds in phonics and have sent home some reading and writing sheets, if you would like to do some home learning over the holidays. The children have been busy reading and writing CVC words and applying this knowledge to their learning in provision. We are starting to see some amazing, independent writing from the children.

In maths, we have continued to learn about the number 5, embedding our knowledge of the different number combinations we can make 5 with. We have used animals to represent 5 and discussed their positions, for example 3 animals in the house and 2 animals in the garden. At home, you could practise representing 5 using teddies, actions figures or dolls. The children can then discuss what their 5 toys are doing.

The children have been busying themselves making Christmas cards, calendars and decorations, amongst other items that have been crafted in the classroom. We have also been singing Christmas carols and reading some funny Christmas themed stories!

We hope that you have a wonderful Christmas filled with fun and laughter and we look forward to seeing you all looking refreshed in the New Year.
