First days back at school 25.09.20

Our first weeks in year 4!

Over the past couple of weeks, year 4 have been very busy! They are now well on with place value in the Power Maths books and have been writing character descriptions based around our text for this term, the Lost Thing by Shaun Tan.

In science lessons, they have been learning about how sound is made, how it travels and how it can be amplified. In these lessons, the children have done a range of experiments including using a speaker and rice to see how sound waves change depending on the volume of the sound and also saw sound waves being detected using a visual oscilloscope.

They have also been introduced to this terms learning challenge, 'What was the impact of the Industrial Revolution on our locality?' where they have been learning about how transport, work, living conditions and population were effected by the Industrial Revolution in Britain. We have also recapped the 7 continents of the world and other key vocabulary such as the British Isles, the United Kingdom and Great Britain. In our most recent geography lesson, the children created picture maps of the United Kingdom and marked on some key physical and human features.
