Summer 1 Week 4 13.5.22

Hello!

In maths this week, we have been learning about adding more by counting on from a number. The children have been looking at how we can combine two quantities to find the total by remembering how many objects we have to start with and counting on rather than having to count all of the items by starting from 1 each time. We have been using objects, number tracks and ten frames to help us count on to find more.

In Understanding the World, we have been thinking about our beautiful world. We have shared experiences of places we have been to and things we have noticed in nature. We have talked about new life in Spring, including thinking about new animals and plant life. The children have produced some lovely creative work based around this topic.

Next week in maths we will be learning about subtraction and how we can take away using a number track and counting backwards. We will also be revisiting the idea that when we take away, our numbers get smaller and we end up with less.

Next week, we will be starting a new topic about toys and how they have changed over time. Thank you for everyone who has already sent in pictures of your child’s favourite toy and your child with their favourite toy. We will be using these on Monday and Tuesday. If you have not been able to send a photo of your child’s toy yet please send it via email or Tapestry.

Thank you again for your continued support. Please feel free to continue to send any photos or videos of your child’s activities at home, as they really help to build a full picture of your child’s progress or experiences.

We hope you have a lovely weekend!
