  • Y5/6 Indoor Athletcis team make the City Finals

    Fri 27 Jan 2017
Congratulations to the Farsley Springbank Indoor Athletics team who have made it to the whole city final for the first time in recent memory. Back in September 2016 we sat down as a team and the boys and girls from Years 5 and 6 set themselves the target of breaking into the top four of schools in the whole of Leeds. This was a hugely aspirational target but one we felt was appropriate as we have been finishing in the top ten for the past four years. At Leeds Trinity University on Thursday afternoon the Springbank Athletes took on schools including Woodlesford, East Garforth, Chapel Allerton and Horsforth St Margarets. It was a fiercely competitive series of events and by the end of the competition it was unclear just who would be going to the final. A tense unveiling of results ended up seeing Springbank going through in second place, just two points behind first-place team Horsforth St Margarets. The Final on Thursday, 9th February will be even more competitive and we will spend the coming days looking at ways to overturn that two point deficit - however, it is a hugely impressive achievement and goes to show just what our children are capable of if they set their sights on it. Well done Springbank.
  • Film Nights

    Thu 26 Jan 2017

Lots of children turned up in their onesies to both the KS2 and Reception/KS1 film nights; the children enjoyed watching the films together in the school hall.  They particularly enjoyed treat of popcorn and ice-cream; it went very quiet!  We raised approximately £650 which is going towards our growing fund for new adventure playground equipment.

  • Year 1 Games Extravaganza

    Thu 26 Jan 2017
All our Year 1 children went to Farsley Celtic this week to compete in a Year 1 Games Extravaganza against other local schools. In small teams the children competed to gain points for our school. They took part in relay races, balancing bean bags on a bat, passing a hula hoop under and over between the team members as well as other team activities. All the activities were designed to develop fundamental sports skills such as running, throwing and working together as a team. The children had a great time and were good sports; apparently our school was the loudest at cheering for each other! Well done to Farfield who won the event but we are very proud of all our Year 1’s who represented the school so well.

    Thu 19 Jan 2017

Thirty Year 1 children had the chance to take part in the KS1 Sports Hall Athletics event at Farsley Celtic. The children took part in obstacle races and different challenges around the hall such as relay races, standing long jump, chest passing and hurdles. They all enjoyed cheering each other on. A big well done to all the children who took part and tried their best.

  • Year 3 Football match

    Tue 17 Jan 2017

Year 3 took part in a one-off football match at Calverley Parkside last week and enjoyed a competitive contest. Taking on Parkside Year 3s saw a hard-fought game with both sides going at it full throttle but showing great sportsmanship at all times. Goals from Stanley Woods and Logan McKenna contributed to a 2-2 draw. We look forward to securing some more fixtures in the future once the weather improves.

  • Artist working in school with Year 5

    Fri 13 Jan 2017

The children of Year 5 were given a fantastic opportunity this week to work with a local artist on creating animal sculptures. The children were able to refine their clay sculpting techniques through working with the artist. The children then created, not just one, but two amazing clay sculptures. They worked really hard on these and enjoyed their day with the artist immensely. They are looking forward to being able to share their creations at their exhibition at the end of this half term.

  • Young Voices 2017

Fri 13 Jan 2017 Miss McSorley
On Thursday 12th January, a group of extremely dedicated, passionate and talented singers attended the incredible 'Young Voices' concert at Sheffield arena. They performed as part of one of the largest student choirs in the country, singing alongside over 5000 other students. These children have worked tirelessly to perfect all the songs and actions. Their efforts most certainly paid off and resulted in an incredible show. All the children represented our school brilliantly. They did themselves and Farsley Springbank proud. What a lovely experience. Thank you so much to all who took part. See you next year!
