The Rhythms of the World is a project in collaboration with Co-op Academy Priesthorpe which has been giving some of our Year 5 and 6 children an opportunity to learn drumming from different parts of the world. The children have been involved in this project over the course of the Summer term with a concert to showcase their skills on Thursday July 12th. The children have been learning samba and djembe drumming whilst children from Farfield have been learning dhol drumming and bhangra dancing. The children have learnt a huge variety of rhythms, how to play the instruments properly, lots of musical terms and also how to play together in a group, which is harder than you'd think! The children have been really dedicated and have worked really hard. Well done to all involved!
This afternoon we took a group of Key Stage Two children to Leeds Town Hall to take part in The Big Sing! Many different schools from the Leeds area were also part of this singing workshop and the sound of hundreds of children in this amazing place was just fabulous. The children learn a variety of songs, some with harmony parts, which really sounded great. The songs included Touch the Sky from Brave, Something Inside So Strong, and Count on Me by Bruno Mars, amongst others. The children put in lots of energy and behaved beautifully all afternoon. Well done to all the singers involved!
