  • Christmas Music Concert

    Fri 15 Dec 2017
On Friday morning we held a Christmas music concert featuring some of the children who have music lessons at our school. Included was instruments such as saxophone, guitars, drums, flutes, brass, singing and and an entire string orchestra! The children performed lots of Christmas classics (including a number of versions of Jingle Bells) and once again showed how far they have developed as musicians in such a short time. It was also announced that a number of the children have achieved the Artforms Red award and some pupils even received their official Grade 1 and 2 certificates. Well done to all the children involved.

  • Y1 + Y2 Christmas production 'Children of the World.'

    Tue 12 Dec 2017
Year 1 and Year 2 children put on a fantastic production called 'Children of the World' this week.  The children spoke clearly and confidently having learnt all their lines.  The singing was superb and the dancing really added to the atmosphere.  The children shared Christmas traditions from China, USA, Malawi, Poland, Australia and Ireland.  They had obviously worked incredibly hard and entertained everybody.  Well done Year 1 and Year 2, you were amazing!
  • Reception Nativity 'A King is Born.'

    Tue 12 Dec 2017
Reception children treated everyone to two great performances this week.  I was amazed at how many songs the children had learnt; they sang them beautifully and with actions too!  The children had obviously worked really hard to learn their lines.  It takes courage to stand up and perform in front of such a large audience and the children showed confidence when entertaining everyone.  Fantastic performance Reception, well done!
  • Singing club at Live at Home scheme

    Thu 07 Dec 2017 Mrs Ashley-Cooper
Yesterday our children who attend singing club went along to the Live at Home scheme at St John's Church Hall to sing Christmas songs. We received a very warm welcome and as the children sang and performed their super actions, there was some great audience participation. After singing, the children had a lovely time chatting to the people there. We were given some fabulous compliments about the behaviour of the children and their wonderful singing. Everyone left with a really warm glow, feeling full of Christmas cheer.
  • LSMA Christmas Concert at Leeds Town Hall

    Thu 07 Dec 2017 Mrs Ashley-Cooper

On Tuesday 5th December, seven of our children from Years 5 and 6 took part in the Leeds Schools Music Association Christmas Concert at Leeds Town Hall. They have been working very hard over the last two months to learn all the songs for this concert and they did a fantastic job. They really sang their hearts out and behaved beautifully.

320 children from 41 Leeds schools made up the LSMA Festival choir and the sound they made was just magical. There was a wide variety of performances including City of Leeds Youth Orchestra, Leeds Youth Choir, Roots Alive (a fantastic folk band) and of course the audience themselves who participated in singing carols alongside all of the musicians.

A big well done to those who took part and thank you to parents for supporting your children in this.

  • Y3+Y4 Christmas production 'How The Grinch Stole Christmas.'

    Wed 06 Dec 2017
This week Years 3 and 4 were really proud to host two evening performances of 'How The Grinch Stole Christmas!' The children have been working really hard to learn lines, develop clear and loud acting voices, practice singing, perform festive songs alongside many other jobs and roles. The children were absolutely fantastic on the night and were extremely proud to show off all their hard work and brilliant skills. All the staff were very proud of the children in return as they worked their socks off for the show and their singing and delivery was excellent! The children acted out the story of four Grinches who get upset at the local festivities and decide to undo all Santa's hard work, thankfully it all came right in the end!
  • Athletics Trophy Retained for Fifth Year

    Wed 06 Dec 2017 Mr C
Congratulations to the athletics team who reclaimed the West Leeds Indoor Athletics trophy with a powerful display at Priesthorpe on Tuesday evening. The team, which is made up of Year 5 and 6 boys and girls, had made the final after powering through their semi-final stage a fortnight ago. The best of the best in our local area came head-to-head in the final where there was some serious speed and athletic talent on display amongst the six schools competing. Our young sporting stars laid down a marker by winning the first four time trial races of the night and went from strength to strength from there. They went on to take gold in eight races in total and five of the field events. Having also taken either silver or bronze in the remaining events we amassed enough points to win back the trophy for the fifth year in succession (with a very healthy 60 point lead) and we now set our focus on the city-wide finals in January 2018. Well done everyone!
  • PTA Christmas Fair

    Fri 01 Dec 2017
Wow what an afternoon!  Thank you so much to all the families who came along to support the school and the PTA...don't think the hall has ever been that busy!  There was certainly plenty to do with lots of games and stalls to enjoy.  Our special visitor, Santa, along with his elves, enjoyed meeting all the children. A massive thank you to the PTA and all the parents who gave up their time to help set up and run stalls at the fair today, it really is appreciated.  We will let you know how much money was raised next week.
