PE 29.11.2021

Cross-Country 29.11.2021

Due to the hall being in use for Year 3 and 4 to rehearse their fabulous Christmas Production, Year 6 carried out their PE lesson outside today. Next week, we have a Cross-Country competition so we took the opportunity to have a practice using our two playgrounds as a course. The children were talked through what it means to 'walk the course', something which happens at the beginning of every cross-country event. We then discussed the difference between short, middle and long distance running and the techniques needed for each one. The children then challenged themselves to keep going at the same pace for 20 minutes. At the end of our run, we linked our learning to our science topic - the circulatory system - and talked about why we need to cool down and the effect the exercise had had on our circulatory systems.
