Fossil formation - 6.10.20:
Today in science, children learnt all about how fossils are formed. When an animal dies, it's skin starts to decompose and rot away over thousands of years - leaving behind only bones. Once this has happened, the bones are covered with several layers of sediment. Over time, the layers compress together, hardening the rock around the bones - forming a fossil. The children loved learning about this process and even had a go at making their own salt dough fossils! They looked fabulous!
