Arrays and fractions
Last week, Year 1 were learning all about multiplication and division. The children practiced their sharing and grouping skills in addition to learning about arrays. The children have learned to identify columns and rows and use this to support writing an addition calculation.
This week, we are looking at fractions (my fave)! We started today by learning what half means and by showing different ways of representing half on a square. The children will continue to develop their knowledge of fractions over the course of the week, learning how to find halves and quarters of both shapes and quantities.
