Health Week 2022
Wow! What an action-packed week we've had here in Year 5! From roasting marshmallows over a fire to hunting for clues during an orienteering challenge, we've certainly been kept on our toes!
For Health Week this week we looked at different ways to keep our bodies and minds healthy. To begin each day the children took part in a 'Wake up, Shake Up' session - we saw some super movers!
We started the week with a fun run in which the children really challenged themselves, completing at least 6 half mile laps of the school field. Then in the afternoon we made tortilla pizzas, exploring how we could make healthier swaps in our diet.
On Tuesday we took part in an outdoor learning session in which we roasted marshmallows and made hot chocolate. This was a good opportunity for the children to relax and be outdoors which supported their mental wellbeing.
To round off Health Week, Year 5 then competed in an orienteering activity, using only a map to find 16 hidden checkpoints around the school grounds. The children were excellent in communication and teamwork.
