Trip to the Gurdwara 28.11.18

Gurdwara Visit

Year 5 continued their religious education today by taking a trip to the Sikh Gurdwara. Whilst there, we looked inside the prayer room and saw how the Guru Granth Sahib was displayed on a platform and under a canopy to show respect. We also saw the use of the 'chaur', a brush used to demonstrate the respect shown the to the Holy Book. We learned about the five K's and even got to try on a traditional Sikh turban. We watched a video all about how the Sikh's use the Gurdwara as a place of worship but also a centre for their community. The children were brilliant throughout this trip and were a credit to themselves and Springbank!
